What is the 8-Year LTE Data Plan?
The HeartSave myPAD Connect contains a built-in LTE module, essentially a SIM card embedded in the device, that connects it to myPRIMEDIC Control over the mobile network. The 8 year data plan covers all data transmitted by this module for the full 8 year term.
One important note: LTE connectivity requires adequate mobile network coverage at the location where the AED is stored. This is the case for the vast majority of UK homes and businesses. If you are in a very remote location with poor signal, please check coverage with your mobile network provider before purchasing. In areas with no mobile signal, the AED will still function fully as a life-saving defibrillator; you will simply not receive remote monitoring alerts.
After 8 years, the AED continues to function as a defibrillator. Data plan renewal options are available.
The myPRIMEDIC App and Cloud Monitoring - What Does It Actually Do?
The connectivity features are what set the HeartSave myPAD Connect apart from a standard home AED.
Think of It Like a Smoke Alarm That Texts You: A standard smoke alarm sits on the ceiling and does nothing until there is a fire. You are supposed to test it regularly, but most people forget. The HeartSave myPAD Connect is different. Every day, automatically, it runs a full check of its own battery, electrode pads, and all internal systems. The result of that check is sent over the mobile network (LTE) to a secure online platform called myPRIMEDIC Control.
You can see the result on your phone, tablet, or computer, through a free app or any web browser. The message you want to see is: “Your AED is ready for use.” No news is good news, but if anything needs attention, you will know immediately, not when you next open the case.
What the myPRIMEDIC Config App Does
It is basically your setup and update tool. The myPRIMEDIC Config app is free to download on iOS and Android. When your AED arrives, you use this app via Bluetooth to set it up, choose your language, register the device, and connect it to your cloud account. This takes around 10 minutes and only needs to be done once. It is occasionally used to push firmware updates or updated resuscitation guidelines to the device.
What myPRIMEDIC Control Cloud Does
It is basically your ongoing monitoring dashboard. myPRIMEDIC Control is the secure web platform behind everything. You access it from any browser on any device, nothing to download. It connects to your AED remotely over LTE mobile network, not Bluetooth. Here is what it monitors and alerts you to:
- Daily self-test results - you get a record of every check the device runs or a failure notice
- Pad and Battery expiry - advanced reminder months before it needs replacing
- Emergency use - instant notification if the AED is used in a real emergency, so you can arrange a replacement pad set and confirm the device is ready again
You decide how you receive alerts, by email, push notification, or both. You choose who else receives them: a family member, an employee, or a building manager. All data is stored on GDPR-compliant servers located in Germany. Nothing is shared with third parties.
Does it need my home Wifi?
No. The Primedic HeartSave myPAD Connect uses LTE, the same mobile network technology your phone uses. This means it works wherever there is a mobile signal, including rural homes where broadband can be unreliable. You do not need to connect it to your router or give it a Wi-Fi password.
The 8 year data plan included in the purchase price covers all of this connectivity for the full 8-year term. You pay once, and there are no monthly bills, annual renewals, or hidden fees.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this AED if I have never had any first aid training?
Yes, absolutely. The HeartSave myPAD Connect is specifically designed to be used by untrained bystanders. As soon as you switch it on, a clear voice tells you exactly what to do while the colour screen shows animated step-by-step illustrations. The device analyses the heart rhythm automatically and only instructs you to press the shock button if a shock is genuinely needed. You cannot harm someone who does not need one.
What is the smallest AED available in the UK?
The Primedic HeartSave myPAD is currently the smallest connected AED available in the UK, measuring just 15 x 15 cm and weighing 1.1 kg with LTS capability. It is small enough to fit in a kitchen drawer, a bedside cabinet, or a vehicle glove box, while remaining fully featured with a colour screen, LTE connectivity, and CPR feedback guidance.
Is the Primedic HeartSave myPAD a good AED for home use?
The Primedic myPAD Connect is one of the most capable home AEDs available in the UK. Its daily self-monitoring and smartphone alerts mean you always know it is ready without ever manually checking it. The animated colour screen and voice guidance make it usable by any member of the household in a crisis. It is compact enough to store discreetly in a kitchen or hallway, and its LTE connectivity works without your home Wi-Fi.
Does it work for children?
Yes. Press the child button on the front of the AED before placing the pads. This immediately sets the energy to 50 joules, the appropriate level for children under 8 years old or under 25 kg. You do not need separate paediatric pads. The standard adult pads included with the device work safely in child mode.
Does the AED need to be connected to my home Wi-Fi?
No. The HeartSave myPAD Connect uses LTE, mobile network connectivity, rather than Wi-Fi. This means it works anywhere with a mobile signal. You do not need to configure a Wi-Fi password or connect it to your router. It is particularly useful in rural homes where broadband can be unreliable.
Will the Primedic HeartSave myPAD Connect semi-automatic AED work with a poor signal?
Yes, the AED itself will work, but not the LTE aspect of it. If mobile coverage is limited at your location, the connectivity features, daily alerts and remote monitoring may not work reliably. The AED itself will still function perfectly as a defibrillator in an emergency; no mobile signal is required to deliver a shock. Please call us on 01298 872 186 if you have any concerns.
Should I register my AED with the ambulance service?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. The Circuit is the UK's national defibrillator network. Registering your AED is free and takes around 10 minutes at www.thecircuit.uk. If someone calls 999 near your property, the call handler can direct the caller to your AED while the ambulance is on its way, potentially saving a life beyond your own household.
What is the difference between the semi-automatic and fully automatic versions?
In semi-automatic mode (the version on this page), the AED analyses the heart rhythm and tells you if a shock is needed, but you press the shock button when prompted. In fully automatic mode, the AED counts down and delivers the shock itself without anyone pressing a button. Both are equally effective; it is only a matter of preference. Please contact us to discuss.
What is the difference between this model and the base HeartSave myPAD?
The base model HeartSave myPAD has a simple graphical interface without the full colour LCD screen, and does not include LTE connectivity or cloud monitoring. It is designed for straightforward home use where simplicity and cost are the priorities. The Connect model (this page) adds the 4.3" animated colour screen, LTE remote monitoring, myPRIMEDIC app control, and the 8 year data plan, making it the better choice for anyone wanting ongoing reassurance that their device is ready, or for organisations managing multiple AEDs.
How long does the battery last, and when do I need to replace the pads?
Both the battery and the electrode pads have a shelf life of up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The myPRIMEDIC Control cloud platform will alert you months in advance when either is approaching its expiry date, so you are never caught out. Replacement pads and batteries are available directly from Defib Store.
