AED Familiarity Training

Course Details:
Duration: Up to 3 hours

Topics Covered:

Define defibrillation and identify shockable rhythm
AED Familiarity for all types of devices
Correct AED Operation and Regular Maintenance
Recognising and Identifying Universal AED Signage for Emergency Use
Effective Communication and Casualty Care

Course Outline:

This programme is designed to equip learners with the knowledge to define defibrillation and identify the characteristics of a shockable rhythm. Learners will gain the ability to discern between shockable and non-shockable rhythms, a critical skill in sudden cardiac arrest emergencies.

The course covers the various types of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), highlighting their unique features so learners can navigate any model they may come across.

Participants will learn to inspect and deploy an AED effectively, including a thorough run-through of the essential components that come with an AED kit. We break down the steps of using an AED, covering everything from its basic functions to detailed operational procedures. Hands-on training will ensure that the attendees are comfortable with the correct placement of AED pads on individuals in need, a key part of the defibrillation process.

Beyond just operating an AED, this course emphasises the importance of regular maintenance, providing the skills necessary to ensure your defibrillator is always in a state of readiness. Finally, the course will enable you to recognise the universal signage for AED locations, ensuring you can swiftly identify these devices during emergencies.
