How the myPRIMEDIC App and Cloud Work

The myPRIMEDIC Config app (free, iOS and Android) is used to set up the AED when you first receive it and to push any firmware or guideline updates remotely. It connects to the device via Bluetooth. This is your setup and update tool.

myPRIMEDIC Control is the secure cloud platform that runs in the background from the moment setup is complete. After every daily self-test, the AED sends its status over the LTE mobile network to the platform. You receive the result on your phone, tablet, or computer. The message you want to see is simple: “Your AED is ready for use.”

If anything changes, a battery nearing expiry, a failed self-test, or an emergency use, you receive an immediate alert by email or push notification. All data is stored on GDPR-compliant servers in Germany. The LTE connection uses the mobile network, not your home Wi-Fi. The 8-year data plan covering this connectivity is included in the purchase price.

8 Year LTE Data Plan

The myPAD Connect contains a built-in LTE module that connects it to myPRIMEDIC Control over the mobile network. If you ordered an LTE device (with SIM card package), the SIM cards are in the devices from the factory, and the configuration files with APN code in the devices are consistent with the SIM cards. That means once you turn on the device or when the device runs a self-test, the connectivity will occur automatically. Then you can just open the browser or the app to sign up if you are a first-time user or just sign in to manage your devices.

One important note: LTE connectivity requires adequate mobile network coverage at the location where the AED is stored. This applies to the vast majority of UK homes and businesses. In areas with no mobile signal, the AED functions fully as a defibrillator; it simply will not transmit remote monitoring data. Please call us on 01298 872 186 if you have concerns about coverage at your location.

Is Fully Automatic Safer for households where the likely first responder is alone?

All AEDs, fully automatic or semi-automatic, do the same things up to a point: they switch on, attach to the patient, and analyse the heart rhythm automatically. The difference comes at the moment a shock is required.

Both versions are equally safe. The AED will only deliver a shock if it detects a rhythm that requires one, ventricular fibrillation or pulseless ventricular tachycardia. It cannot shock someone whose heart is beating normally. The difference is not safety; it is the division of responsibility between the user and the device.

In a fully automatic AED, the device takes full responsibility for the timing and delivery of the shock. In a semi-automatic AED, the user shares that responsibility by pressing the button. For most people in most settings, this distinction is manageable. For some buyers, eliminating it entirely is worth more than any other feature on the specification sheet.

For many home buyers, particularly those purchasing for an elderly relative, for someone living alone, or for a household where the likely first responder has no medical background, the fully automatic version offers a meaningful psychological advantage. The hardest moment in an emergency is not knowing what to do. It is making yourself do it. Removing the button removes that barrier entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the myPAD Connect Defibrillator work without the data plan or connectivity?

Yes, the myPAD Connect is a fully functioning defibrillator without the connectivity. If you don't have a signal, it would only affect the remote management aspect of the defibrillator, not it's opreational efficency.

Is a fully automatic AED better for home use?

For many home buyers, it is. The most common concern about home AEDs is whether a family member with no medical training could actually use one in a crisis. A fully automatic AED answers that concern directly: there is no button to press, no decision to make at the critical moment. The AED does everything beyond attaching the pads. For households buying this device for an elderly parent, a partner with a cardiac condition, or anyone who would be responding alone, the fully automatic version is often the more practical choice.

Is there any risk that the AED will shock someone who does not need it?

No. The HeartSave myPAD analyses the heart rhythm before every potential shock and will only deliver one if it detects a shockable rhythm, ventricular fibrillation or pulseless ventricular tachycardia. It will not shock a heart that is beating normally. This is true of all AEDs, regardless of whether they are semi-automatic or fully automatic. The fully automatic version makes the user's role simpler, but the underlying clinical decision making is identical.

What is the smallest fully automatic AED available in the UK?

The Primedic HeartSave myPAD is the smallest fully automatic AED currently available in the UK, measuring just 15 x 15 cm and weighing 1.1 kg. It is small enough to fit in a kitchen drawer or a bedside cabinet while remaining fully featured with a colour screen, LTE connectivity, and CPR feedback guidance.

Can I use myPAD AED if I have never had any first aid training?

Yes. The HeartSave myPAD Connect is designed to be used by anyone, including people with no first aid training. As soon as you switch it on, a clear voice tells you exactly what to do while the colour screen shows animated step-by-step instructions. In fully automatic mode, you do not need to press the shock button, the device manages that step entirely on its own.

Is this a good automated external defibrillator for home use?

The HeartSave myPAD Connect fully automatic is one of the most capable automated external defibrillators available for home use in the UK. It monitors itself daily and sends its readiness status to your phone, so you always know it is ready without checking it manually. The fully automatic operation means any member of the household can use it effectively in an emergency, regardless of training. Its compact size means it can be stored discreetly in any room, and its LTE connectivity works without home Wi-Fi.

Does the AED need to be connected to my home Wi-Fi?

No. The HeartSave myPAD Connect uses LTE, the same mobile network your phone uses. It connects to myPRIMEDIC Control over the mobile network rather than your home router. You do not need to configure a Wi-Fi password or worry about what happens if your broadband goes down.

Is the data plan included in purchase price? Are there any ongoing costs?

The 8 year LTE data plan is included, covering all mobile network connectivity for remote monitoring, daily self-test reporting, and real-time alerts for the full 8-year term. There are no monthly fees, annual subscriptions, or hidden charges during that period.

Should I register my AED with the ambulance service?

Yes, and we strongly recommend it. The Circuit is the UK's national defibrillator network. Registering your AED at thecircuit.uk is free and takes around 10 minutes. If someone calls 999 near your property, the call handler can direct them to your AED while the ambulance is on its way.
