Recommended ZOLL AED 3 Accessories:
Real CPR Help, it coaches you in real time.
A built-in sensor detects whether you're pressing hard enough and fast enough during CPR. A colour bar on the screen and audio instructions tell you to "push harder" or "good compressions" in real time. This is lifesaving; most bystanders don't press deeply enough, and effective, high-quality CPR increases survival outcomes.
RapidShock, quick analysis before shock
The AED 3 analyses the heart rhythm in as little as 5 seconds. One of the fastest defibrillators available. Less waiting = more time on CPR = better survival chances.
AED 3 Uni-padz, one set of pads for adults and children
The CPR Uni-padz™ electrodes work on both adults and children; there's no need to carry or switch to a separate paediatric set. Easily activate child mode with a dedicated button.
Full-colour display with rescue images
The screen shows step-by-step rescue illustrations alongside clear written and spoken instructions. The high-resolution touchscreen eliminates confusion, and the large colour bar gauge makes it easy to visualise compression depth.
Wi-Fi connectivity for remote management 24/7
Simplify device management by automatically transferring device status and event data to the cloud. Connect to your Wi-Fi network, and the AED 3 will automatically check itself daily and send you an alert if anything needs attention.
5-year battery and pads, lower maintenance costs
Both the battery and electrode pads last 5 years (from date of manufacture) in standby mode. Fewer replacement costs and fewer maintenance visits.
IP55 rated, built tough
The device offers reliable operation from classrooms to construction sites. Engineered to be durable and built to withstand temperature changes, altitude, vibration and shocks. The device is also drop tested from 1 metre.

Recommended Accessories for ZOLL AED 3
ZOLL AED 3 Semi-Automatic VS Fully -Automatic. Which should you choose?
The only functional difference between the two models is the shock button.
On the semi-automatic version, once the device analyses the heart rhythm and determines a shock is needed, it prompts the rescuer to press the shock button themselves. On the fully automatic, the device delivers the shock on its own, no button press required.
Why UK ambulance services typically recommend semi-automatic:
The semi-automatic is generally favoured by the emergency services in the UK because it gives the rescuer an active role in the most critical moment. You can verbally alert bystanders to stand clear, confirm the area is safe, and then press the button. In a composed, trained response, this can save precious seconds and keep the rescuer in control of the situation.
Why do some buyers prefer fully automatic:
Many people choose the fully automatic version because it removes the perceived burden of having to press a button to shock another person. In a cardiac arrest, adrenaline is overwhelming. The instinct to freeze is real. For organisations where staff may have minimal training or low confidence, transferring that moment of decision to the machine removes a potential point of hesitation.
It is worth noting that in both versions, the rescuer must still place the pads correctly, perform CPR, and follow the device's guidance. The machine does not do the hardest work for you. But for some rescuers, not having to press that button makes the difference between acting and freezing.
Our recommendation: If your team has first-aid training or the device will be used by emergency services or CFRs, choose the semi-automatic. If the device will primarily serve untrained members of the public with no first-aid background, a fully automatic model may be the better fit. When in doubt, call us.
ZOLL AED 3 WIFI & PLUSTRAC Programme Management. Do you need it?
The ZOLL AED 3 has optional WiFi connectivity that links to ZOLL's PlusTrac AED programme management system. After each automatic self-test, the device reports its status, and if it fails, you are notified immediately.
In our experience, WiFi and PlusTrac are genuinely useful for multi-site deployments, property developers, local councils, multi-national companies, and organisations managing fleets of AEDs across multiple locations. If you need to know that 20 devices across 10 sites are rescue-ready without physically visiting each one, PlusTrac delivers that.
For a single device installation, the WiFi functionality is a useful peace of mind feature, particularly the push notifications when a self-test fails, but it is not essential. ZOLL's support team will help you set it up if you go that route.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the ZOLL AED 3 work on children?
Yes. The CPR Uni-padz electrodes are universal; the same pads work on both adults and children. To treat a child, press the child mode button on the device. There is no need to purchase or store a separate set of paediatric pads, unlike some competitor devices.
What warranty does the ZOLL AED 3 come with?
The device comes with a standard 6-year warranty. Register online with ZOLL, and this extends to 8 years, one of the strongest warranties available on any AED.
Do I need WiFi for the ZOLL AED 3 to work?
No. WiFi is entirely optional. The device functions fully without any network connection. WiFi and PlusTrac programme management are most useful for organisations managing multiple devices across several sites.
Does the ZOLL AED 3 need to be registered anywhere?
Yes, we strongly recommend registering your device on The Circuit, the NHS national AED network. This ensures ambulance call handlers can direct bystanders to your defibrillator in an emergency. Registration is free.
Can I use the ZOLL AED 3 outdoors?
The device carries an IP55 rating, meaning it is protected against dust and low-pressure water jets. It is suitable for indoor and some sheltered outdoor use. For permanent outdoor installation, we recommend housing it in a Defibstore 4000 cabinet with a thermostatically controlled heater to maintain optimal operating conditions year-round.
Do I need training to use the ZOLL AED 3?
No formal training is required; the device is designed to guide any bystander, trained or not, through a rescue. However, we strongly recommend CPR and AED training. In a real cardiac arrest, adrenaline is overwhelming, and the instinct to freeze is powerful. Training builds the muscle memory and confidence to act. DefibStore offers two CPR and AED training courses.
