The Primedic HeartSave Y & YA CPR Feedback Pads are the advanced replacement electrode pads designed exclusively for use with the Primedic HeartSave Y (semi-automatic AED) and HeartSave YA (fully automatic AED) defibrillators. Unlike the standard HeartSave Y & YA electrode pads, this version includes an integrated CPR feedback sensor, a chest-placed puck that connects directly to the pad cable and enables the device to deliver real-time, guided CPR instructions to the rescuer throughout the resuscitation attempt.

Suitable for use on both adult and paediatric patients without any pad change, foil-sealed electrode pads are engineered to help workplaces, schools, sports facilities, and public access sites respond faster and more effectively to sudden cardiac arrest.

How the CPR Feedback Feature Works

Standard defibrillator electrode pads deliver the shock and monitor the heart rhythm, but they cannot guide you on the quality of your chest compressions. The Primedic HeartSave Y & YA CPR Feedback Pads change that.

These pads include a dedicated CPR feedback sensor: a compact puck-shaped device that is placed directly on the patient's chest during resuscitation. The sensor connects to the pad cable, allowing the HeartSave Y or YA device to receive and process real-time data on the rescuer's compressions.

Once active, the device uses this data to provide live audio and visual feedback, coaching the first responder on whether they need to push harder, ease off, or adjust their rate. This transforms the HeartSave Y/YA from a standard AED into a guided resuscitation tool, supporting lay rescuers and first aiders who may not have recent CPR training, and helping trained responders maintain professional-grade compression quality under pressure.

Keep your HeartSave Y or YA rescue-ready with the pads that unlock its full CPR coaching capability. Free delivery available.

Device Compatibility

These CPR Feedback Pads are designed exclusively for the Primedic HeartSave Y (semi-automatic) and Primedic HeartSave YA (fully automatic) defibrillators. They are not compatible with any other Primedic model or any other AED brand.

If you are unsure which device you have, check the front panel of your defibrillator for the model name before ordering. Using incorrect electrode pads on an AED can prevent the device from functioning correctly in an emergency.

Key Features of the Primedic HeartSave Y & YA replacement CPR Pads

  • Real-time CPR compression feedback- the built-in sensor puck provides live guidance on compression depth and rate via the HeartSave Y/YA device
  • Universal adult and paediatric use - single set of pads covers both adults and children, eliminating the need to switch pads or change energy output during a high-stress emergency
  • Pre-connected by design - pads can be pre-connected to be ready for deployment during an emergency.
  • Protective foil packaging - hermetically sealed to maintain pad integrity and gel adhesion until the moment of use
  • Up to 5 year shelf life - long service life reduces replacement frequency and total cost of ownership
  • Compatible with HeartSave Y (semi-automatic) and HeartSave YA (fully automatic) devices only
  • MDR Approved - compliant with EU Medical Device Regulation

Why does CPR quality matter?

Research consistently shows that CPR quality, specifically the depth, rate, and consistency of chest compressions, is one of the most important factors in survival from sudden cardiac arrest. Compressions that are too shallow, too fast, or interrupted for too long dramatically reduce the chance of successful defibrillation and survival. Real-time feedback has been shown to improve compression quality by helping rescuers correct errors as they happen, rather than relying on recall alone.

Who Are These Pads For?

The CPR Feedback Pads are the right choice for any organisation or setting that has a Primedic HeartSave Y or YA defibrillator and wants to maximise the effectiveness of their emergency response. For instance:

Schools & Educational Settings

Suitable for use on both staff and pupils without changing pads, making these pads particularly well-suited to schools, colleges, and after-school clubs where responders may face an adult or paediatric emergency without knowing in advance.

Workplaces & Facilities

Offices, factories, warehouses, and public buildings where appointed first aiders may have variable CPR training currency. Real-time coaching means any designated responder can perform high-quality CPR on the day, regardless of how long ago they trained.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need these CPR Feedback Pads, or will the standard HeartSave Y & YA pads do?

It depends on whether you want your device to provide real-time CPR guidance. The standard HeartSave Y & YA electrode pads will allow the device to analyse heart rhythm and deliver a defibrillation shock. For CPR, the standard pads do support a basic metronome count, an audio beat you can match your compression rhythm to. What they cannot do is measure the quality of your compressions. They do not include the CPR sensor puck, so the device has no way of knowing whether you are pressing deep enough, too hard, or at the right pace.

The CPR Feedback Pads add that sensor puck, enabling the HeartSave Y or YA to give live, corrective guidance throughout the resuscitation attempt. If your organisation wants to activate this capability, these pads are the ones you need. They are also available as a first-time purchase, not just as replacements. If you’d like to talk through the options, our team is happy to help: call us on 01298 872 186.

Can I use these pads on a child without switching anything?

Yes, and it’s simpler than you might expect. These pads can be applied to both adults and children, with no pad change required. To switch the device into paediatric mode, press the child mode button located on the left-hand side of the shock button. The HeartSave Y or YA will then automatically adjust the energy output and CPR coaching to levels appropriate for a child. This means a single responder, in a high-pressure moment, does not need to locate different pads or make manual settings changes. This is particularly valuable in schools, sports clubs, and any setting where both adults and children may need emergency treatment.

How often should I replace my electrode pads?

Electrode pads must be replaced immediately after each use, and before the expiry date printed on the packaging, whichever comes first. Even if pads have never been used, they degrade over time and must not be relied upon past their expiry date. We recommend setting a reminder well in advance of expiry so you can order replacements without any gap in readiness. We do offer a free expiry reminder service; it’s worth registering your pads to take advantage of it.

Are these the same as the pads that come with the Primedic HeartSave Y with CPR Feedback bundle?

Yes. If your HeartSave Y came as part of the Primedic HeartSave Y Semi-Automatic Defibrillator with CPR Feedback Sensor bundle, these are the correct replacement pads for that configuration. The sensor puck is included in this pack, so you are replacing everything you need in a single purchase. If you’re unsure which pad version your device originally shipped with, call us on 01298 872 186, and we’ll confirm the right replacement for you.
