LIFEPAK 1000 AED Trainer
The LIFEPAK 1000 AED Trainer (part 99996-000123) is a training version of the LIFEPAK 1000 defibrillator. It uses the same screen messages, tones and voice prompts as the real AED, so your team practises on exactly what they will use in a rescue, but it never delivers a shock. A wireless remote lets the instructor change scenarios and trigger events during training.
Key features
- Same screen messages, tones and voice prompts as the LIFEPAK 1000
- Simulates AED mode for first responders and Manual/ECG mode for clinicians

Key features explained
Why train on a trainer instead of a real AED?
A trainer behaves like the real AED but cannot deliver a shock, so it is safe for practice with groups. It also protects your real LIFEPAK 1000: Stryker states that any training use of the defibrillator reduces the battery's standby life, and pads used in practice cannot go back in service. Stryker describes the Trainer 1000 as ideal for training large groups and as an alternative to training on a live defibrillator.
How does the remote control work?
The instructor uses the wireless remote, from up to 4 metres away, to steer the scenario while trainees work through it. Its seven buttons set the shock decision, and simulate poor pad contact, patient movement, a service alert and a low battery. They also pause the session or change the scenario. A 2 metre cable can be used instead of the wireless signal.
Can it be set up like our own LIFEPAK 1000?
Yes. The trainer can simulate the full range of LIFEPAK 1000 setup options, so trainees hear the same prompts as on your AEDs. These include the energy sequence, automatic analysis, the length of each CPR period (15 to 180 seconds), cprMAX options such as CPR before a shock and pulse-check prompts, the ECG display and motion detection.
Does it train Manual mode?
Yes. Manual/ECG mode simulates the LIFEPAK 1000 AED with ECG Display and Manual Override. Trainees see a simulated heart rhythm and heart rate, and can practise charging and delivering a shock without the AED's analysis.
How long does the battery last?
A fully charged battery runs the trainer for at least 3 hours, and up to 4 hours. The trainer warns you before it switches off, and recharges with the plug-in charger included.
Where can it be used?
The trainer is built for training rooms. It operates from 0 to 40°C and should be kept indoors, away from rain. It is designed for heavy use and long sessions.
Frequently asked questions
Can the LIFEPAK 1000 trainer deliver a shock?
No. The trainer cannot deliver a shock. When a trainee presses the shock button, the trainer shows and announces the shock just as the LIFEPAK 1000 would, including the energy level, but no energy is released. This makes it safe for hands-on practice in groups, with trainees working close together.
Is there a user manual for the LIFEPAK 1000 trainer?
Yes. You can download the LIFEPAK 1000 trainer user manual here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hkfwMMviFn0aKssfm8Le9ws21dD2qhYG/view?usp=sharing
Which pads does the trainer use?
The trainer comes with one set of training electrodes which is reusable, so trainees can practise placing the pads as they would in a rescue. If you need more, call us on 01298 872 186 and we can advise.
Can scenarios be changed during training?
Yes. Instructors can choose a pre-set scenario in the trainer's setup menu before the session, or use the remote to switch scenario or trigger an event at any point, such as a shock decision, poor pad contact or patient movement. This tests how trainees respond to situations they could meet in a real rescue, rather than repeating the same sequence every time.
Can the trainer simulate an AED problem?
Yes. From the remote, the instructor can trigger a service alert, a low battery warning, poor pad contact or patient movement. Each one produces the same prompts the LIFEPAK 1000 would give, so trainees learn to recognise them and respond, for example by pressing the pads firmly onto the chest or keeping the patient still during analysis.
Can I use it to train on other LIFEPAK AEDs?
The trainer simulates the LIFEPAK 1000 only, covering both the Graphical Display and ECG Display models. The core skills it teaches, such as following voice prompts, placing the pads and keeping CPR going, apply to any AED. Other AEDs differ in their buttons, prompts and settings, though, so for teams using a different model, a trainer for that model gives the most realistic practice. Other LIFEPAK AEDs, such as the LIFEPAK CR2, have their own trainers. If you need one, call us on 01298 872 186.
