How to Get Free Defibrillators, Defibrillator Cabinets and AED Training
At Defib Store, we understand the importance of having easy access to a public automated external defibrillator (AED) in case of a sudden cardiac arrest. However, we also recognise that affordability can often be a barrier for some communities and businesses. That’s why we want to provide a guide on how to raise funds for a free defibrillator and defibrillator storage, as well as AED training.
One effective way to raise awareness and money for a defibrillator and protection is through public fundraising. Working with the support of your neighbours, friends and family through sponsored events or activities can be a great way to raise money for this life-saving equipment.
These events can also improve people’s understanding and knowledge of what to do in an emergency, helping to save many more lives on a local level across the UK.
We have compiled a list of our favourite fundraising ideas that we hope will inspire you to get creative to raise money for communal defibrillators and have fun at the same time. From sponsored sporting or physical activities, gaming for good causes, sponsored car washes, and quizzes, there are options for everyone.
Read on for more ideas or take a look at our website for the best defibrillator for your needs. Remember, by increasing the number of people taking up innovative fundraising activities, we can make sure nobody goes without a defibrillator in their most desperate moments. Fundraising Activity Ideas
Sponsored Sporting or Physical Activities –
A tried and tested method of raising money for public access defibrillators. From a personal challenge for a determined individual, like running a marathon or climbing the height of Everest on your home staircase, to a sponsored football match between two local teams, there are options for everyone.
Gaming for Good Causes –
Whether you’re already GOATed in Overwatch, enjoy a kickaround on FIFA or are just getting interested in e-sports, gaming can be a great way to generate some interest in a worthwhile cause whilst bringing in donations. Stream your games online to reach a wider audience or host a local tournament to bring neighbourhood gamers together.
Sponsored Car Wash –
Wash cars for good causes. Easy to organise and a fun way to raise funds, a sponsored car wash can be done by one person or a whole community. Just keep an eye on the weather on aim for warmer days in the middle of the year.
Quizzes –
Many local pubs and community centres are great for this already. Test the knowledge of people around you, or virtually using a video conferencing app to reach more people. Themed quizzes for enthusiasts competing for sponsored or donated prizes can be super incentives for regular quizzers to get involved.
Sponsored Goals / Points Scored at Times during a sporting event –
This is an amazing idea that one of our customers used to raise funds for their very own public-access defibrillator and outdoor cabinet.
The Yorkshire Bridge Inn in the Peak District encouraged its regulars to sponsor which minute they thought a goal would be scored during the Women’s Euro 2022 games. This was a regular feature any time there was a game, and helped the Inn raise funds for a publicly accessible defibrillator stored outside with one of our defibrillator cabinets.
This can work for any sporting event at any level, from world-class fixtures to local pub teams.
